How to choose a flush button for toilets

In the process of choosing an installation for a suspended toilet, there are always a lot of questions, one of which is the choice of the flush button. On the one hand, this is just a small detail, on the other, the button is the only thing that remains visible on the panel above the plumbing appliance itself. Among other things, the installation kit often does not include buttons, since the variety of designs and functionality is very large, and you have to make a choice from the mass of options offered. Let's talk about what buttons are and in which case it is worth choosing one or another type.

Types of buttons by modes

This is perhaps the simplest type of classification of buttons for flushing toilets. They are divided into 3 groups:

  • Single-mode — one key makes a complete drain of water. This is the simplest and cheapest design, and it is worth choosing it only if you are very straitened in funds.

  • The dual-mode ones consist of two keys, one of which makes an economical drain, and the second one is full.
The most popular option of buttons in the price-quality segment, since 2 modes allow you to use water much more efficiently. This means that the cost of paying water bills can be reduced.

  • The three-mode ones have an additional third key that stops the water drain at any stage. They are also called stop function buttons. It is also a useful device for saving money, however, the question of whether it is advisable to purchase a three-mode button depends only on your needs. For example, such buttons are convenient for use in families with young children.

Types of buttons by mechanism

The mechanism of operation of the button also varies. The most accessible are mechanical, elementary type of buttons that open the valve when pressed and the tank drains the water. They are durable, inexpensive and no different from the usual buttons on a regular toilet. Plus - if such a button breaks or is loose, it is quite easy to fix it yourself because of the simplicity of the design.

Electronic buttons are more complicated, more expensive and are pressed much softer. Often such devices are equipped with additional functions: illumination, motion sensors, a block with the absorption of unpleasant odors. If you are not limited in funds— you can safely buy an electronic button, selecting additional functionality for your needs.

Pneumatic buttons are started by means of a special air tube, which includes the flushing mechanism. Such a button can be installed not only near the toilet, but also at any point in the bathroom at a distance of 2-3 m from the tank. Pneumatic flush buttons are designed for the arrangement of bathrooms in houses where people with disabilities live - disabled, sedentary pensioners. The main task of pneumatic buttons is to provide free access to the flush in the right place of the room. Also, such systems are widely found in designer interiors when it is decided to experiment with the bathroom space.

Contactless touch buttons do not require touching, which means they increase the hygiene of using the toilet room. It is advisable to install them in public places, but, due to the high cost, it is not rational to put such a button in an apartment.

What are the materials

The modern market is not limited to 2-3 materials, from which buttons for toilet bowls are made. Budget keys are plastic keys, but they are fragile and short-lived. A good option for an inexpensive flush button is steel. Durability, resistance to corrosion and mechanical damage and stylish appearance are the main advantages.

You can order expensive options made of wood, glass, bronze, and even precious metals. This will be useful in homes with original interiors, where every detail serves both functionality and aesthetic purposes at the same time.
